Lucifer: Episode 1

I love this show so much. I love it to a degree that I may not be able to find the words. Based on Vertigo's comic Lucifer, a spin-off of The Sandman, this show takes a different look at the dark prince, the above and below.

I became very intrigued by this show because Lucifer isn't a stereotypical devil character. He's troubled by his post as the ruler of hell - unlike Lucifer of Supernatural or even Crowley (two characters which I also love). As the show progresses he becomes more and more conflicted and less and less sure of his place in the universe. That has a lot to do with his relationships with humans, including Detective Chloe Decker.

The pilot episode of this wonderful show opens with Lucifer Morningstar speeding through LA and getting pulled over by a police officer.

He tries to bribe the cop and then somehow gets the cop to . Lucifer gets to LUX, the club he owns, where we meet Maze (who's getting pleasured by a man behind the bar), and Amenadiel, Lucifer's angel brother. Amenadiel shows his wings, lovely dark gray wings.

Outside of LUX, a car pulls up and Delilah, a famous singer (played by Annalynn McCord) who Lucifer helped is inside. He gives her a pep talk and while they're saying their goodbyes, someone fires upon them, killing her. Lucifer goes after the gunman who has caused a crash in the intersection outside the club. The gunman gives no answers before he dies.

Obviously lights and sirens ensue, news crews show up. Detective Chloe Decker is on scene. Lucifer is a witness to the shooting so Chloe is tasked with interviewing him. He recognizes her, but can't remember from where. He's insulted by the insinuation that Delilah was just a drugged-up celebutart or that he had anything to do with it.

Lucifer interrupts the wedding of a music producer, who Delilah had once been engaged to. He tells him that she'd been with 2 Vile. Lucifer works his magic and the bride says she doesn't want to have sex with her groom and she's not marrying him for love. Lucifer goes to the home of 2 Vile, getting in by telling the butler that he has narcotics for him. Lucifer doesn't take it very well when the rapper talks badly about Delilah, so he dangles him over the balcony. 2 Vile tells him that Delilah had been cheating on him and that the only person who would know with who is a therapist in Beverly Hills. Chloe shows up. When one of the men in 2 Vile's posse recognizes her, Lucifer finally figures out where he knows her from. She was in a nude scene in a B-movie he saw. She arrests Lucifer when 2 Vile says he threatened him. He easily gets out of the handcuffs and tries to work his mojo on Chloe, but it doesn't work. He's incredibly intrigued by this.

After following a beautiful woman into the school of Chloe's daughter, Lucifer meets a little girl named Trixie, who tells him that he's not allowed to smoke there and that he's going to get arrested because her mom's a cop. "What's your name?" "Lucifer." "Like the devil?" He smiles. "Exactly." He then gets her to tell him what happened and it turns out she finally reacted to a bully. He goes over to the bully girl and tells her there's a special place in Hell for bullies. His eyes go red and she screams.

Outside, they encounter Trixie's dad who is also a detective and there's an immediate dislike between him and Lucifer. They go see the therapist Linda Martin. Lucifer uses his charms to get the information out of her, promising to take her to "Pound Town". Lucifer and Chloe go see the man Delilah had been seeing, a famous actor, and basically just break up his marriage with no real leads being made.

Lucifer and Chloe go to LUX, which is closed, and she reveals her backstory and the current case she's working on. A dirty cop case. Maze points their attention to the television where there was a story about Delilah's sales rocketing. Chloe realizes who killed Delilah. Jimmy the record producer.

Jimmy takes a hostage at the recording studio and when he points the gun at Lucifer, Chloe shoots him. Lucifer's angry with this because now he won't be punished. Jimmy's not dead though and shoots at them, hitting Chloe. Lucifer tells her that his father will just have to wait for her. Jimmy shoots Lucifer multiple times, but nothing happens and Lucifer shows Jimmy his true self, scaring the holy bejeezus out of him.

Chloe wakes up to find Lucifer in her hospital room. She asks him how he managed to not be shot and then thanks him for helping her. Trixie runs in and hugs Lucifer. Still grossed out by kids, Lucifer basically drops her onto her mother.

The episode ends with Amenadiel basically letting Lucifer know that he will never stop pursuing him and Lucifer not caring, going off to carry out his end of the deal with Linda Martin.
