I watched Gilmore Girls on ABC Family and as soon as I saw Jared Padalecki I thought that he looked and sounded like a... purer version of Emmett. In my imaginary world - not yet put on paper - Emmett and Sarah had just had their first child, Marcellus.
Sarah was the heir to the throne when Galorian lost it so she was the Devil for about a year and then the powers that be ripped it away from her and dropped it onto Marcellus. It was totally unwanted and Sarah was very unhappy about it.
Marcellus is the calming force - despite being the Devil. While Dean is hot-headed and quick to judge, Marcellus stays neutral and calm.
As the years go by and his job becomes increasingly more difficult, Marcellus is starting to harden up and is beginning to understand that not everyone is good.
