First of all, I love the titles for Atom Age Vampire. I love the font and the way they’re presented. So far – I know it’s only movie #2 – my favorite titles.

At first I was like, ā€œthe audio track is way off on this movieā€ and then I realized that it was directed by Anton Giulio Majano, a notable Italian director. That new information made me eat my thoughts because the film was initially in Italian – Seddok, l’erede di Satana – and then dubbed in English, hence the nonsensical, almost comical overlapping.

After that little misunderstanding, my next thought was about Susanne Loret’s hair. Susanne, who plays exotic dancer Jeanette Moreneau, has the most beautiful blond hair, which she uses constantly to cover her ā€œdisfigured faceā€. The whole movie everyone’s acting like she’s been ruined, that she’s not beautiful anymore. Like Candace Hilligoss, Susanne Loret, can’t be anything but beautiful. I’m starting to think I have a thing for 1960s actresses. Let’s be honest, gnarled face or not, I’m not kicking Susanne Loret out of my bed.

Of course Prof. Alberto Levin decides that he’s in love with his patient, who in his eyes is his creation, and tries to convince her that she is in love with him too. Monique Riviere – played by Franca Parisi – is the doc’s lover/assistant and is extremely pissed when she finds out that he’s become infatuated with their newest experiment.

Monique suddenly dies of a heart attack or something. ā€œShe suffered from palpitations.ā€ For some reason, no autopsy is performed on the otherwise healthy-looking young woman.

We find out the Prof. Levin began honing his skill at genetic engineering after spending some time in Hiroshima. Of course, because that’s normal.

After hearing about a girl that was mauled and killed, Jeanette’s face begins to burn – like it did the night Monique was killed. The Doc is sitting at his desk and all of a sudden turns into some sort of combination between a puppet and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Very odd, unsettling transformation scene. He throws on a hooded coat and kidnaps a woman.

Things go downhill from there as Jeanette realizes how much of a whack job Prof. Levin is. Jeanette runs into Pierre Mornet, the man she loves, on the dock and as soon as she says, ā€œPierre, I’m so frightened. Take me away,ā€ Prof. Levin grabs her and knocks Pierre into the water.

As the coroner discovers that poor Monique was killed just like the mauled girl, Prof. Levin completely loses his mind and the police start to look for him. Prof. Levin tells Jeanette that she’s running away with him whether she likes it or not. Pierre hears her screaming and runs to the rescues. I actually laughed out loud when she went running down the stairs, pulling lamps off the walls and then all of a sudden Pierre and the good doc were in some sort of grappling match, which looked more like they were trying to make out. Rolling around the floor, destroying every piece of furniture in the room… funny stuff.

Levin gets trapped in the greenhouse and for some reason the police just decide to open fire at the building. Sacha, Levin’s mute henchman, kills Levin when he says that he’s going to kill Jeanette. I don’t know how he kills him, but he does.

Notable Quotes:
ā€œDon’t doubt it, Jeanette, a miracle has happened to you.ā€
ā€œYou are nothing if not mine. You belong to me."

Susanne Loret and her amazing blond hair - without her face being all mangled.
